Go To Heaven Inspired Dog Names
Introduction
Inspiration for a name for your new dog can come from many sources. Some get ideas from the letter of the alphabet, others scroll through lists of their friends pet names. But you can also get inspiration from the movies, or even one specific movie. This list of unique names comes from the animated movie All Dogs go to Heaven. It is a real family movie, full of great characters and larger than life hero’s and villains. Sometimes a name sticks in your mind from a movie such as this one, names like Charley B. Barkin which is a bit of a play on words, but you have to love Barkin for a vocal pooch. While King Gator is a mouthful to say out loud, try breaking it into two distinct names, such as King for a smooth, elegant dog. For a rough and ready tough dog you could call him Gator, which is a one-of-kind choice. So think outside the box when looking at a name; with a few changes it may become the perfect one for your new companion.
Charlie B. Barkin is a typical rough tough dog who learns through the companionship of a little orphaned girl Anne-Marie, that loyalty and trust are important in life. While he starts out using Anne-Marie for her special talent of being able to talk to animals, he grows to love and care for her. Charlie is a bit different from most dogs, as dogs seem to be naturally inclined to bond with people, but then again – I guess if they get the wrong owner to start with it may make them go off the tracks a bit. The movie has great characters: from Charlie’s friend Itchy, to the bad guys (Killer), or the sweet characters like Anne-Marie. The movie was made as a joint cooperative venture between Ireland, Britain and America, and is an ideal family movie with a good plot.
Another character from the All Dogs Go to Heaven movie was the bad guy, Carface V. Malone. While the name is quite a mouthful, it suits this big, bad character who was instrumental in getting Charlie killed in the first place. Imagine his horror when Charlie refused to go into Heaven and comes back full of life to get his revenge! It would be enough to frighten the toughest crook. Unfortunately, Carface was set in his ways and remained an ominous pooch (unlike another hero Itchiford Itchy Dachshund). Otherwise known as just Itchy, he was Charlie’s back-up and advisor, not that Charlie always listened to him. But he also became tamed by Anne-Marie and lived happily ever after. Who doesn’t like a good end to the story?
While targeting the family market for entertainment, the producers had to cut out some portions of the movie before it was released as some parts of the movie may have upset small children, and were considered too dark and scary. Thankfully it didn’t affect the overall picture, and it went on to become a classic in Pop Culture.
All Dogs Go to Heaven Inspired Dog Names
A name for your new pet should suit the dog’s character and perhaps be tailored to his size or coloring. If you find a name you like but it just isn’t quite right, you can play around with it to make it suit. Often you can take part of a name which makes it more fitting for your dog. Isabelle may sound nice but a little too formal, but if you reduce the name to Bella or Belle, it suddenly suits that small fluffy dog who is asleep on your knee. Just make sure that the name you choose is not one that can sound offensive. Racist implications have no place for a name, while drug names can be borderline. If you feel funny saying your dog’s name out loud, it is not the right name. Remember that the name reflects back on you so choose wisely. Your dog’s personality can guide you in choosing a name. A boisterous, happy bouncy dog could be called Dynamo, while a quiet little pooch could be called Lady, Ghost or Sooty. Once you get going, their will be no stopping you!
