Our dogs live in our home as pets.  We breed as a hobby and our Moms and or Dads are available for you to meet when you come to visit your pup. Our house is always full of dogs. We do not have a greeting room. You will be walking into our home.  It is there you will meet 4-8 of our dogs and your pup. You may even be able to see the entire litter if they have not gone home already. We do show pictures from birth to 8 weeks and you will be able to see the Mom, Dad and entire litter throughout the process. My home will feel familiar from the photos. We also encourage relationships with other families we have placed pups with and would love you to visit them on Facebook on the Brookside Cavalier Lovers page. We do not share private info EVER. Our facebook page was designed to allow all buyers to communicate freely with each other. We believe this should be a fun and inclusive process. Speaking to previous buyers should be a way to feel comfortable and provide peace of mind.

What does this mean for you? Not only does this show lineage but it helps relieve health concerns. We screen for 200+ medically inherent disease as well as family genetics, Our breeding dogs DNA is tested for your protection and for ours. Just one more step to ensure you are getting the real deal. We provide the test results from our adults to you from both parents as well as a copy of mom and dads pedigree. 

 This way you know where they came from and can research other relatives.  

We micro-chip every pup free of charge 

We will be the first to register them in your name under your email. 

 It will be the greatest link back to you if by some chance your dog wanders or is taken from you by a stranger.

  We want you to have a dog that will live the longest healthiest life possible with you and no worries about wandering off or ending up in a shelter.

Having been in health care for 35 years and an EMT years ago I am grateful these experiences gave me the tools to provide this to you at no extra cost.

Our unique care and preparation 

Every pup is pre-spoiled and imprinted from birth till pick up.

We imprint every baby from the day they are born until they leave our home to go to yours, Imprinting is a method of constant human soft and caring touch and voice awareness as well as making them familiar with normal household noises, car rides, other animals and children. This helps with the transition from our home to yours. 

This unique and effective practice was taught to me by Jack Meagher in Hamilton Ma when I worked with horses. His gentle technique was ground breaking and is still implemented with many sport horses. 

Our connections

 We pride ourselves on the beautiful CKCS that adorn our home and bring so much joy to families all over New England, the USA (coast to coast), and abroad. We are proudly now known all over the world from US to Australia, France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, England, Hungary and so many more where we continue or friendships with exceptional breeders. We have provided pups to many people willing to fly here to get them. We do not ever ship our babies in cargo. We do offer ground shipping or airport taxi if you want to fly with your baby.

  Please remember we are not a business but a home and we only have scheduled visits when we have pups available. We do not have set hours of operation. 

I work around the clock some days and other days are a bit more relaxed but I am 24/7 with my dogs.

 We also work with MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION, Autism speaks, Northeast Therapy and Service Dogs, many professional dog trainers, Massachusetts and Maine SPCA, several local shelters and most recently the

 National Cavalier Rescue (northeast area).  

We are proudly NOT a member of the BBB as this is for businesses like multi breed mills, brokers and pet stores. 

Brookside is an in home breeder with high quality dogs who have limited litters.  We also do not have a “staff” since we are a small family with only my daughter and myself providing around the clock care and companionship for our adults and pups alike, along with a friend that helps out with computer stuff, emergency day care and moral support. Any breeder needing “staff” is clearly not a home breeder. 

Stud service

Although we only breed Cavaliers, our friends have non- shedding crossbreed.

We provide stud service to Red Castle Cavapoo in Newbury, MA and promote them to those looking for a

 non-shedding cavalier/poodle cross. Sarah is great and we are honored to be part of her program.

For the past 10 years we have been lucky to provided stud service to Cavachons of the Monarchy in Monson, MA. 

Previously owned by Melonie, now owned by Meryl. Incredible breeders with attention to detail.

 They are a Bichon and Cavalier mix, another non shedding breed.

Showing our dogs

  YES, we used to show and we got our winning blue ribbons (AKC) but it was just not the life for me and I did not want my dogs to have to endure that lifestyle.  We like the spoiled pampered life instead. 

We have sold many dogs for show but we do not force Co-ownership as to ride on the work of those who purchase them and do all the hard work of showing.

Our primary focus is on our dogs living a happy healthy life. 

All the blue ribbons in the world do not insure a healthy dog. Showing does not require health testing.

We never knew this until we were showing ourselves. I was sad to find little to no requirements on health testing for showing or breeding. Merely suggestions by the AKC. 

I know we can do better.

Our daily life

  We are often out with our dogs at the beach, boating, paddle boarding, running on the beach or sandbar. Sometimes we are in the woods hiking, 4-wheeling or picking berries. Sometimes we are at our home in Maine on the lake, or chilling on our 4 acre home in Rowley chasing lightening bugs, but no matter what, we are always on an adventure. Needless to say, we are not always sitting at a computer, we vest our time into our dogs living life outside. So with that being said, we are not always quick to respond to emails but we are more accessible when we do have available pups as we spend most of our time inside with them before they go to you. As you can see in our pictures and on our social media, our dogs roam freely in our house 100% of the time and we are always an open book to our buyers.
