That’s good news for the cover, but that water has to go somewhere, and it could get to your couch fabric or carpet. Still, it gives you a few seconds to get a towel, anyway.

The microsuede fabric is extremely heavy, which makes it durable enough to stand up to quite a bit of abuse (like big dogs with long claws jumping all over it). You can also link several of them together to cover a large sectional.

One little touch we’re big fans of is the pocket on one side. It’s a great place to stash a book or a remote, and makes this cover more convenient, even if it doesn’t offer any value as far as protecting your couch.

It’s not all sunshine and daisies with this cover, however. The white material on the back of it comes off and gets all over everything, so you’ll be replacing pet hair with another nuisance. Also, the fabric’s “grippiness” erodes over time, making the Link Shades a solid-but-not-spectacular choice.

The pillows are filled with recycled material, though, so at least your conscience will be as pampered as your back. It’s also guaranteed to be the spot where your pup curls up at every opportunity, so don’t expect to be able to give it a test drive yourself.

It’s fairly small as well. You can buy it in multiple sizes, but even the extra-large won’t come close to covering a three-seat sofa, so expect to buy several or otherwise just abandon all hope of protecting one end of it.

The fabric is fairly thin, too, so it won’t last forever if you put it to heavy use. All in all, the Furhaven is an interesting option, but you’ll likely be happier with one of those ranked higher on this list.

It’s easier to install than most other covers, as it simply tucks into your cushions rather than requiring you to figure out straps or adhesives. This lets you put it on in seconds, but as mentioned, it doesn’t do much to keep it from coming unstuck.

It’s also an absolute magnet for dog hair. That’s a good thing — that’s what you bought it for, right? — but you will need to wash it often, probably as much as every week. As a result, you may want to consider buying two so that your couch stays protected while one is in the wash.

The fabric is extremely slippery as well. You (or your clumsy dog) can easily slide right off it if you’re not careful, so it may not be a good choice for homes with extremely young or old people (or pets).

The Bella Kline shows promise, but it needs to do a better job of delivering on that promise before it’ll rise any higher on these rankings.

It’s not reversible, and instead has a slip-resistant backing that’s designed to hold it in place even if your pup squirms and squiggles. There’s also a strap you can loop around the back of the couch.

The problem is that the backing actually seems to make the cover slide around more, and it falls apart after you wash it. Expect to find little pieces of rubber in your washing machine, dryer, on the couch…you get the idea.

It’s difficult to find a suitable way to attach the strap, and even if you do, it does little to hold the thing in place. It’s a lot of work for practically zero reward.

On the positive side, it is super-soft and comfortable. It may be worth buying the Gorilla Grip for that reason alone — just don’t expect it to do much else for you or your couch.
