Ava Maria…sounds like a prayer, doesn’t it? Ava’s prayers were answered when she was picked up by the PG Co. animal shelter as a too skinny stray, in delivery with a breach puppy. At the shelter, Ava had a C-Section and has been an amazing mother. She had the three sweetest, prettiest and most rambunctious all girl puppies you ever saw. If you missed them, their foster mother has photos! Ava’s prayers were answered again when each beautiful puppy, they took after their mother, found her forever home. Ava could be an answer to your prayers. She is a full-blooded, but surprisingly quiet Beagle, who has the disposition of a service dog. The vet believes Ava is 3-4 years old. She is young, playful and active, and has outgrown any significant behavioral issues. She gets along well with other dogs. She has been peacefully coexisting with cats, and though she chased them away from the puppies a time or two, she did not try to catch them. However, the birds in the park are another story. She appears to be interested in children and meeting people at the park, but having spent time as a stray, she tends to be a bit shy . . . and she has an escape fantasy. Be careful with open doors or loose collars! Once she has settled into a forever home and family, the wanderlust should subside. Ava’s puppy-care job is over. I have a very sad expression on my face but that’s so I can get all the love and affection (and treats too) from my human friends. I have so much love to give. I like to be petted, held, talked too, and played with. I just need to be with people, I love them so much. When I’m tired I like to curl up on your lap and snuggle my head under your chin.

I like to explore new things. I just can’t stop sniffing everything. I love to wrestle and play with the bigger dogs. The most fun of all is when I steal their toys or bones and they can’t catch me. Sometimes they get mad at me but I don’t care. I’ll just go find someone else to play with me. If no one wants to play I’ll get my ball or stuffed
toys and toss them around a bit. I have a very gentle mouth so I don’t hurt the little kids I play with. I’m not real big on kissing but if you pet me or give me a treat then I’ll slip you a kiss or two. I think I could be on American Idol. I can sing like a lone wolf howling at the moon. I don’t let many people hear it. In fact, my foster mom has only heard it once. I only bring out my beautiful voice
when I’m alone in my crate and I can hear the others playing in another room. I’m just lonely so I’m singing the blues. I have one more talent. I can escape from my pen. I really don’t like to be left out of any activities even if it’s just laying around watching movies. I get upset when other pets and humans are in another area of the house and I can hear them playing around. As long as you include me in the family I will be your loyal companion forever.

Amber, Abigail, and Aurora came to AFH along with their mom Ava. She was a stray and her pups were delivered at the shelter the day after she arrived by c-section. The pups are growing and playing. These pups will be ready to go when they are 7 to 8 weeks of age. Watch for the updated pictures as they grow older. Amber is the brown one. The white and brown one is Abigail, and the black and tan one is Aurora. Aurora and Amber are adopted so Abigail is the only pup left.

She is still getting acclimated, but within a day we see her exploring the house and getting familiar.

Hi, I am Axel. I was released to the shelter because my owners could no longer care for me. They told the shelter that I was approx 8 weeks old and a rottweiler/mastiff mix. Not sure if that is true or not but oh well I am just an adorable little guy, so who cares. I am a stocky little guy right now weighing about 10lbs but I will not stay little for long. We are guessing I will be over 80lbs when full grown but I may fool you. I love other dogs and to be held as I am still very much a baby.

We are brothers and boy do we have fun. Every person we meet is our new best friend and every pet is as well. There’s not a toy out there that doesn’t inspire us to play, play play! We know we don’t photograph so well but if you will just spend a minute and get to know us we will steal your heart. Although it would be fine if we are adopted individually it would also be great to find a home together. We are both crate trained and housebroken and getting better in the leash every day.
