It is a sturdy crate for your dog!
Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2022
The crate arrived today (Wed 8/24/22). I followed the instructions, no tools required and they were very easy to follow. I did have a problem snapping the latches on the top of the crate, but I eventually got them. The dog bed that comes with the crate is pretty decent, but I have another one that I am using. I do like the wheels on it and this makes it very easy to move! It came with a carrying bag too, this is a plus to help transport it in and out of the my car when traveling. Overall, great crate and glad I purchased it! Btw, I have a 8 month old puppy and she weighs 22.6 pounds. I bought the 36” crate.

As a concept this is wonderful. I love the garage side door idea. It would be perfect to have on the back seat of my car and let the puppy have air-flow and easy side access. However, in real terms, the plastic clips are too flimsy, they come out and can get lost or eaten by a dog, and they require two hands and effort to get just-right to latch. My puppy does not walk in the crate and wait so I need to be able to keep a hand on her and/or be holding my other dog in a leash at the same time that I’m shutting a crate. I want to like this product but I’m returning it because the downsides are things that I’d be fighting with every day. I was not planning to fold the crate but for those looking for that feature, I think it would be good for periodic travel, but not for daily use like taking to a daycare. It simply isn’t sturdy enough for all the assembly and disassembly and I think the parts would break down very quickly. Maybe they tried to do a bit too much and it would be better to make a sturdier crate with a garage door as a separate product from a travel crate and put the extra weight into better hardware design.

I like the crate. IT is easy to set up and move around. It came with a none functioning latch and the seller Pet Gear Store was easy to work with. I did not want to return it, so I contacted them and they send me a set of latch. The only thing I would complain about the crate is, That the doors (which are two of them on opposite end) are set to open from left to right. instead of left to right on one and right to left on the other. Which would make to convenient for tight spaces.

Other lightweight kennels are mesh sided which allows the pet to look out but not me in which was unacceptable as I needed something for the car for my pup. This has sturdy coated wire sides (though they can rattle some on some roads) and has 4 options for openings which is awesome! I don’t find the clasps all that difficult but they do require two hands for me. Assembling was troublesome to me because the pictures are not very clear — pretty poor photos. But I had a friend help me and between the two of us, we got it together. The “garage door” is really cool and I found no problems with it. This is definitely worth a try….I would hope the sellers would make the pictures in the directions more clear.

My dog is comfy and I like the look and ease of use of this crate. The only issue was the clips that go on the ends were very hard to clasp on, but they did finally go on. It has a top door to drop in toys for my pup. It looks so much nicer than the all metal crates. This is the 2nd one we purchased. We have a 36″ and now a 42″. Very happy with this purchase and recommend to others.

It’s heavier than I thought it was going to be. Feels like more than 40lbs. We got a bigger one than necessary because I wanted my pup to have lots of room. I think setup will get easier once we get a better hang of it and practice a few times. The wheels are nice, but I probably won’t end up traveling with it like I thought, especially if it’s just me. I don’t know if it was worth the price but we will probably keep it anyway. I also just borrowed a generation 1 crate, and I’m not sure what the differences are. So I would save some change and just get the 1st generation at lower cost if I did it all over again.

I do like this crate. I like the plastic with the metal combination. I purchased it for the back seat in the car as a travel crate. I soon found out that it is not suitable for regular use in a car. It is extremely noisy with all the rattling as the car is in motion(much more thsn your average metal crate). It is frustrating to the dog,who has to listen to it the whole time, and super irritating for the other passengers in the car and the driver. So I moved it into the house and she uses it as her nighttime sleeping crate. But I wouldnt leave a dog unattended in it. And I would not recommend this to the owner of a dog known for being chewy. There are plastic clasps ,that hook the metal into its upright position, that is accessible to a chewing dog. And if the dog chews the plastic off, the crate will collapse
into itself & onto the dog. It is fairly easy to assemble, except for the two top latches (*which a hammer easily remedied ).

Bought this to be a travel crate – not FOR travel in the car, but to use for when we’re traveling on the road in hotels, etc. Unfortunately there were a few issues/
– this crate is much harder to set up / break down than a plain wire crate
– the crate is heavier than a wire counterpart (thought the plastic would help that but it didn’t)
– the buttons to open / close doors are not easy to use – took me approx 5 mins to open one
– there are gaps in some of the corners that are concerning for a dog that sometimes likes to scratch at the crate – eg they could get a toe or toenail caught
– the crate isn’t contained when folded (without the included bungee cords) – instead it is intended to be placed in the included bag
Therefore sent the crate back since I need something less cumbersome for when we’re on the road.

Love the look. Love the sturdy top with the access door . Love the multiple doors. My dog loves it.
BUT! My 10 month old Corgi keeps putting her nose through the wire grid panel. Her nose becomes swollen and tender resting it on the wire. The other day she put her paw through the wire grid and again rested it on the wire. Very unsafe and the possibility she could get more of her leg through and twisted or broken. She just recently started these habits. It is too late for me to return via Amazon policy of a 30 day return. Its been about 45 days now. The company also will not accept a return as it was not purchased directly through their site. Safety concerns are not an exception for either. This size crate was recommended for a Corgi, that is why I bought it. I hope the manufacture corrects this issue because otherwise it is a wonderful crate. Make the grids a little smaller to be safer for all dogs and I would purchase it!

If you have questions that need to be answered about the topic pet gear the other door steel crates, then this section may help you solve it.
Should a dog sleep in their crate?
If you have a younger pup that likes to roam the house in the middle of the night to amuse themselves, then they should be crated. Dogs who aren’t house trained should also be crated and should definitely not be allowed to sleep in your bed as you could wake up to an awful accident in the middle of the night
Where is Pet Gear Inc located?
West Rutland VT
What size crate should I get for my dog?
The crate should be at least 15cm (6inches) longer than their body length (head to start of tail) and at least the same 15cm higher than their shoulder height to ensure they will be comfortable and be able to move around
How to measure dog crate?
To find the right crate length, measure your dog from the tip of their nose to the end of their tail. Add four inches to this measurement to give your dog some extra wiggle room to ensure comfort
Should you cover a dog crate with a blanket?
You should never completely cover your dog’s crate as it can block airflow. Keep blankets away from heat sources, ensure the fabric is breathable, and avoid using knit blankets that may snag or unravel. Monitor the conditions inside the crate in humid summer weather to ensure it doesn’t get too hot.
Can I crate my dog for 8 hours at night?
Adult dogs shouldn’t be left in crates for more than 6-8 hours. Puppies of 17 weeks and older can handle up to 4 or 5 hours in a crate at a time. Leaving a dog home alone in a crate longer than this can hurt their mental and physical health.
Does Amazon own a pet store?
In addition to starting its own dog food brand Wag, Amazon has created year-round storefronts dedicated just to pet supplies in order to encourage pet owners to buy from Amazon?
What is the biggest pet supply company?
1. PetSmart. PetSmart claims to be the largest specialty pet retailer, and as well as having 1,650 brick-and-mortar stores, the company also operates 200 PetsHotel boarding facilities.
Can a dog stay in a crate for 12 hours?
Is it ok to crate him for 12 hours? The quick answer is that while a dog can sleep through the night in his crate, he should definitely not be crated for 12 hours during the day. This is way too much time spent in isolation.
At what age should a dog no longer sleep in a crate?
You can usually stop closing your dog into your crate when they are around two years of age. Before then, they are usually more likely to get into trouble. It isn’t until they mature fully that they are able to behave properly when not supervised. This is especially true for larger dogs, who tend to mature later.
Should you put a blanket in a dog crate?
Avoid piles of blankets and towels, which a puppy can reduce to shreds and then swallow. Ingesting shredded textiles can result in a trip to the veterinary ER to treat a potentially life-threatening blockage in your puppy’s gut. The same applies to many beds with soft or plush fill.
Should I leave water in dog crate at night?
No. Healthy, adult dogs don’t need water in their crate overnight. Hydration isn’t an issue so long as your dog has plenty of water available throughout the day. Also, your dog should associate the ritual of going into her crate at night solely with sleep, comfort, and security, and not with drinking water.
Should I put a pee pad in the crate?
Never leave pee pads in the crate with your puppy. Not only is it a chewing hazard, but it will also start to teach your puppy that it is ok to pee in their crate. Pee pads can be used in long-term confinement areas for your puppy.
